THE TSUNAMI
In his 2024 book “The Tsunami of Chinese electric cars”, Jacques Leger describes and reveals an unprecedented reality:
The surge of a gigantic global industrial tsunami that is already on the move.
China has built for several decades a superior ecosystem around electrical vehicles (EV).
A complete ecosystem including mining and refining of critical metals, most modern electric motors and associated electronics, software control, autonomous driving, battery charging stations (1,8 million charging points in China as per 2024), innovations, …
China understood the undeniable advantages of electric vehicles long before anyone else.
For ex an electric motor has a 98% efficiency compared to 35% for a thermal motor.
China has developed new production process allowing a new EV to be designed, produced and sold in less than 2 years compared to 4-5 years for traditional manufacturers.
China leverages the fact that it is the largest market in the world. China can become a world leader in basically every sector, using its size and scaling its own national market.
China is massively dedicated to study and work. BYD has alone 100 000 engineers and submits 15 new patents per week. Chinese universities train more engineers than all Western countries combined.
There are about 100 brands of Chinese EV. Yes 100. Breathe… and read that again.
Western automotive industries are seriously in trouble.
The book of Mr Leger is brilliant and full of documented data on the automotive sector, on China economy and history.
It also contains ideas and strategies for Europe to survive this tsunami.
The original book is in French but an English version exists, prefaced by Asia-Connect Executive Partners.
