While China and Asia Display Force and Unity –

The West is experiencing an existential crisis –

Choose where to invest and expand –

On Sept 3rd , 2025, China exposed its power with an unprecedented military parade in Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

That was just after the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (CSO) summit held in Tianjin on Aug 31 and Sept 1st, which hosted 26 heads of state.

Chinese President Xi Jinping’s strategy combined military display with diplomatic outreach, notably securing the attendance at the CSO of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Modi’s presence signaled a surprising warming-up in Sino-Indian relations, and was partly driven by Donald Trump’s punitive tariffs on India, which pushed New Delhi closer to Beijing.

Xi sought to present China and India as partners rather than rivals, urging cooperation within the “Global South.”

The joining of North Korea’s Kim Jong-un projects China’s ambition to lead an alternative world order opposed to the West.

The Sept 3rd military parade showcased advanced Chinese weaponry, including new aircraft carriers, fifth-generation stealth fighters, and intercontinental nuclear missiles capable of striking the United States.

Xi declared the Chinese army’s mission to build “world-class armed forces” while framing China as a peaceful counterweight to an aggressive America under Trump.

Analysts note that China under Xi has become more authoritarian, nationalist, and assertive internationally, challenging U.S. influence in Asia and beyond.

Trump’s policies have inadvertently boosted Beijing’s global standing, accelerating China’s bid to replace the United States as the world’s leading power.

For Indonesia, the summit highlighted both opportunities and challenges.

As a key ASEAN member and non-aligned power, Indonesia observed China’s assertive posture with interest but also caution.

Indonesia values its role as a bridge between Asia and the West, and Beijing’s push for leadership in the “Global South” could increase pressure on Indonesia to clarify its position.

In this picture, Indonesia is presented as an equal partner among the great powers.

This is the strength of Indonesia’s independent foreign policy: respected in the East, accepted in the West, and central in global conversations.

While the West tries to survive its decline, which is unfolding before our eyes.

While North America and Europe observe and realize the damages brought by wokism.

While the United States chokes on its USD 37 trillion debt.

While Europe is stuck in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Asian powers appear strong and unified.
